THE BLUES

Sure! EPL means the English Premier League, the highest level of professional football (soccer) in England. Here’s a simple history: ] How the Premier League started Before 1992, England's top division was called the Football League First Division. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the biggest clubs wanted greater commercial independence, particularly over television rights and sponsorship. On 17 July 1991, the First Division clubs signed an agreement laying the foundations for a new league. On 20 February 1992, the 22 clubs resigned from the Football League, and the Premier League was formally established as a limited company in May 1992. The first season began on 15 August 1992, with 22 teams. Sheffield United's Brian Deane scored the first-ever Premier League goal.
